Now in its 15th year and directed by its founder, Sergio de Pieri, the Organs of the Ballarat Goldfields festival brings some of Australia's finest classical musicians, singers instrumentalists and ensembles, and some international musicians to perform in the beautiful heritage churches and halls of the central highlands goldfields. Last January, musicians included the Interpreti Veneziani and Trio Leonardo from Venice and Michele Benuzzi from Milan. Twenty two one hour recitals are held over ten days each January with the audience having time to explore the region, share picnics, a barbecue festival breakfasts and a festival dinner. The heritage pipe organs of the region are used as a central theme in the festival. Each year, festival attendances have grown and audiences who have come for a day or weekend once have returned the following years for the whole festival. Repeat recitals are pre planned when smaller venues are used. Please visit our website for further information and a copy of the program.
