If you have ever played petanque, this place might conjure up wistful memories of whiling away a summer afternoon frolicking on a lawn. Such imagery lends itself perfectly to this restaurant, a provincial gem residing on a 15-acre estate at Main Ridge. The charmingly rustic structure greets visitors with rose and herb gardens at the entrance and soothing green and yellow interiors. Behind the venture are owner Philippe Marquet and chef Keith Boulton, who successfully bring the tastes of southern France to your table, via a jaunt through Italy and Spain. Think dishes such as the duck with a star anise and honey glaze served with spring vegetables. While you await your meal, or for an after-dinner treat, there is even a petanque pitch outside.
