| Saganaki combines the modern glitter of a waterside eatery in Melbourne's ever-expanding Docklands with the old-fashioned charm of a traditional Greek restaurant. The understated luxury of warm ochre hues and gilded chandeliers is grounded by comforting Greek touches, such as the family kitchen-style blue checkered tablecloths.
The menu is extensive and takes much of its inspiration from traditional Greek food. The dishes include the namesake saganaki, souvlaki, slow-roasted lamb and even that old favourite, moussaka. Alternatively, diners can methodically graze their way through the list of mezze plates, sharing such dishes as dolmades, marinated octopus and fried meatballs. With an extensive list of Greek wines and numerous ouzos to sample, Saganaki lends itself to an afternoon of lazy nibbling and sipping.
