| Flirting the boundary between uber-chic and James Bond kitsch, Misty has been thrilling Melbourne lushes and the after-work crowd for nearly seven years. With stimulating decor straight out of a Stanley Kubrick set design dream, and equally stimulating libations, this place is a thriller. Both the discerning drinker and the rugged booze-hound can find a sophisticated preening perch and a comfortable place to fall down, respectively. However Misty's underlying success lies not only in its eye-candy interior, but in the sophistication of the alcohol offered. Originally pioneering the 'lounge bar' concept at a time when Melbourne drinkers craved more than a skanky corner pub, this place is a haven in which to indulge in high-quality basic spirits, a cocktail list more creative than a caipiroska and a QF, and staff programmed with a myriad of variations on your favourites. Try a lychee martini the next time you're in the mood to put something sweet to your lips. Alternatively, sample a high-voltage cocktail kick with a spicy wasabi-laced Bloody Mary. Like so many of Mlebourne's best nightspots, Misty's location can seem elusive and, well, foggy. This is a back laneway bar that you have to hunt out. Misty also holds occasional street parties, attended by those in the know.
