Join Naturewise Conservation Holidays in the Grampians National Park and contribute to an important research project monitoring vulnerable and endangered native Australian wildlife.

You will play a hands on role in the monitoring of small mammal populations in remote locations within this spectacular and much loved national park. You will work in small groups, alongside a Parks Victoria Ranger to check traps and collate data.

To date, the project has helped small mammals in Western Victoria threatened by fox predatation and bushfire – including the nationally vulnerable Long Nosed Potoroo and Heath Mouse, and the nationally endangered Southern Brown Bandicoot.

The ecotour package includes accommodation at the highly acclaimed YHA Eco Hostel in Halls Gap, all meals, morning and afternoon tea, mammal monitoring activities and transport (from Melbourne or Ballarat). The ecotours operate during May and June and October and November, a time when the Grampians National Park puts on a stunning display of native wildflowers.

They are led by experienced Conservation Volunteers Australia guides in conjunction with Grampians based Parks Victoria rangers / researchers. Not only will you have a great time relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the Grampians, you will be actively contributing to a worthwhile conservation project, while learning more about Australia's natural environment and vulnerable native wildlife.
