On the water – Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula

Geelong waterfront

Port Phillip Bay offers seemingly endless opportunities for water activities. Along the north side of the Peninsula sheltered bay beaches are ideal for families while the southern length of the Peninsula faces the Bass Strait and offers excellent surf. If the beach doesn’t appeal, the quaint art deco pools of Eastern Beach, a short stroll from central Geelong are another great place to swim.

Port Phillip Bay's wide expanse is a popular choice for boating enthusiasts who launch powerboats, yachts and other watercraft on the mostly calm waters. There are also plenty of fishing charters out of Queenscliff for those wanting to test their fishing skills. For the more adventurous the southern reaches of the bay offer some of Australia’s best diving on reefs and shipwrecks and you can even join a tour to swim with dolphins.
