Skiing – Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges

Visitors to the region enjoy easy access to Mt Donna Buang near Warburton and Lake Mountain near Marysville – the closest snowfields to Melbourne.

One of the best cross-country skiing ski resorts in the country, Lake Mountain offers 40 kilometres of well-marked trails that wind through scenic valleys of snow gums. Ranging from beginner to advanced, the trails incorporate stunning views of the Victorian alps from well signposted lookouts. Check out the tobogganing, or enjoy a day of snow play with the kids at Mt Donna Buang. Ski season in Victoria runs from the first weekend in June through to September.

During the warmer months the ski trails are great walking and mountain bike tracks. Visitors enjoy relaxing walks and beautiful views of Marysville, Melbourne, surrounding mountain ranges and the Victorian alps. The high-altitude subalpine setting is the perfect place to stop for a picnic and escape the summer heat.
