Wildlife viewing – Goldfields
The national, state and regional parks of the Goldfields provide ample opportunities to observe wildlife in their natural settings. Quietly stroll down a bush track and look out for kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and koalas. A number of the parks are also home to rare native birds including the swift parrot, bush stone curlew and barking owl.
If you are staying overnight in the region, bush located accommodation will often provide wildlife viewing options. Enjoy a glass of local wine on your balcony at dusk and you may well observe kangaroos, wombats and others coming out in search of an evening feed.
If you’d like to get even closer to Australian native animals, visit the Ballarat Wildlife Park. See koalas, wombats, emus, kangaroos, crocodiles, Australia’s largest colony of Tasmanian Devils and more.
