Mallacoota
Surrounded by the magnificent wilderness of the Croajingolong National Park and set on the beautiful Mallacoota Inlet, this pretty coastal town is a great escape. Mallacoota is a popular year-round Gippsland destination, with Victoria’s warmest winter temperatures and cool ocean breezes in summer. The Top Lake, Bottom Lake, the inlets, cliffs and beaches are all great places to explore, set sail in a boat, fish, walk or just sit and watch the beautiful sunsets for which the area is renowned.

- Take a cruise and explore Mallacoota Inlet with a local expert
- Hire a boat and spend a day fishing for bream in the inlet
- Paddle a canoe up the Genoa or Wallagaraugh rivers to Gipsy Point
- Explore an unspoilt coast from the popular and patrolled Betka Beach to the rugged Quarry Beach where snorkellers explore the rocks or the peaceful Secret Beach
- Visit Gipsy Point, a beautiful peninsula jutting into the top lake of the Mallacoota Inlet and home to a large mob of kangaroos
- Explore the diverse landscapes in the Croajingolong National Park, from pure white sandy beaches to granite peaks and heathland
- Visit Gabo Island Lightstation Reserve. The island is home to a host of seabirds and one of the world's largest colonies of Little Penguins. Access is possible by boat or air and you can even stay overnight in the light housekeepers cottage.

How to get there
Mallacoota is just over 6.5 hours from Melbourne on the Princes Highway in far-east Gippsland.
